Designed as an open-air museum to protect and preserve all authentic Naga cultural heritage, Kisama is famous worldwide as the main venue for the annual Hornbill Festival. The village showcases traditional Morungs (bachelor dormitories) of all 16 major Naga tribes.

Wood-smoke drifts from open hearths beneath towering thatch eaves as the deep, resonant thud of a carved log drum echoes across the amphitheater. The sharp mountain air carries the rich aroma of fermenting rice beer and roasting wild herbs, while vibrant red warrior shawls flutter against hand-hewn bamboo morungs.
