Arrival, Dzong Exploration & Hearth-Side Dinner
Arrive in Thembang by mid-day and check into an authentic community-run stone homestay (such as Kharjap Homestay or Dirkhi House). Spend the afternoon exploring the fortified perimeter, the Southern emergency postern gate, and traditional woodcarving workshops. In the evening, gather around the family woodfire hearth (Thap) for an authentic Monpa dinner of Gyapa Khazi and warm Ara while hearing elders recount Bapu clan folklore and the 1913 Bailey expedition.

Dawn Valley Panorama & TBCCA Red Panda Forest Walk
Wake at dawn to witness morning sunlight illuminating the eastern Himalayan snowpeaks from the Dzong viewpoint. After a breakfast of hot Khura pancakes and butter tea, take a guided 3-hour nature walk into the Thembang Bapu Community Conserved Area (TBCCA) pine and oak forests to track rare avifauna and learn about community anti-poaching initiatives. Depart toward Sangti Valley, Dirang, or Tawang.
