How to Reach Shillong

Fastest Route

Guwahati Airport (GAU), located 98 km away, is the primary aviation hub with daily non-stop flights to major Indian metros (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru). Shared and private cabs operate 24/7 to Shillong (3 to 3.5 hours). Shillong Airport at Umroi (SHL) is 30 km north with ATR flights to Kolkata and Guwahati.

By Train

Scenic Rail

Guwahati Railway Station (GHY), 95 km north, is the nearest major railhead. Pre-paid shared Sumos (₹200-₹300/seat) and private taxis connect directly from Paltan Bazaar to Police Bazaar in Shillong.

Smooth 4-lane asphalt highways connect Guwahati to Shillong via NH6. Regional highways connect Shillong to Sohra (54 km / 1.5 hours), Dawki (82 km / 2.5 hours), and Jowai (66 km / 2 hours).
