Why Book Your Safari With Nezo
Kaziranga Jeep Safaris Open 3 October: Central (Kohora) & Western (Bagori) First
The Forest Department has officially confirmed reopening on Friday, 3 October 2026. Following the morning opening ceremony, Central (Kohora) and Western (Bagori) ranges open first. Eastern (Agaratoli) and Burapahar ranges open in gradual phases. Reserve your opening week Gypsy early to secure permits.
Why Booking Your Jeep in Advance Truly Matters
Here is the practical reality about Kaziranga that most travel websites never mention: getting an entry permit at the forest gate is straightforward, but securing a well-maintained 4x4 Gypsy with a seasoned tracker-driver is where most travelers run into trouble.
The total number of registered safari jeeps across Kaziranga is strictly limited. Even more scarce is the pool of experienced local drivers who know animal habits, understand alarm calls, and drive with patience. On weekends, holidays, and throughout peak winter months, every reliable jeep is booked days or weeks in advance. If you wait until you reach your resort, you frequently face two frustrating outcomes: finding every vehicle sold out, or being forced to pay 2x to 3x the official government rate.
When you reserve with Nezo, we secure your private open-top Gypsy with one of our trusted local drivers at official government rates. You get an unhurried 3 to 3.5 hour drive (extending up to 4.5 hours in the morning if you enter at sunrise), complimentary high-definition binoculars for distant sightings, and an exclusive vehicle for your group. You can reserve your vehicle today with a fully refundable ₹499 deposit per jeep and pay the balance later.
Every jeep is 100% private to your family or group—we never bundle strangers into your vehicle.
Kaziranga Jeep Safari Cost & Official Rates (2026–27)

Under Assam Forest Department regulations, the official Kaziranga National Park jeep safari price ranges from ₹3,033 to ₹4,033 per private 4x4 Gypsy (accommodating up to 6 guests). Unlike middlemen or resort tour desks who inflate prices during peak season, every safari reserved through Nezo follows transparent government tariff schedules with zero hidden markups. You can secure your vehicle and expert local driver today with a fully refundable ₹499 deposit per jeep.

Our Advice as Kaziranga Locals: How to pick the best range for your trip
Most wildlife in Kaziranga is territorial, meaning rhinos, deer, and elephant herds have established home ranges. However, visibility changes with weather, morning fog, and trail activity. For the most rewarding journey, we recommend booking at least two Jeep safaris in different ranges (for example, Western Range in the afternoon and Eastern Range the next morning).
Not sure which range to choose right now? Select "Decide Later" in the calculator. You secure your vehicle and official pricing today with a fully refundable ₹499 deposit per jeep, and our team will recommend the ideal range 1–2 days before your safari based on real-time sighting reports from our local drivers.

Safari Seasons & Opening Dates
Best Window: Mid-Nov to AprilKaziranga is officially open for jeep safaris from October to May (the 2026–27 season officially commences on 3 October 2026 across Central and Western ranges first), and elephant safaris run from 1 November to 30 April. The park stays closed from June through September because annual monsoon floods cover most of the land.
Why do opening and closing dates change each year? Kaziranga sits on the Brahmaputra floodplain. Every summer, monsoon floods submerge about 70% of the park. The water brings fresh nutrients to the soil, but it also washes away dirt tracks, damages wooden bridges, and leaves deep mud behind. In October, forest guards open only a few dry trails while repair teams rebuild damaged roads. Jeep safaris cover roughly half the normal distance and time. The same thing happens in May when early monsoon rains return. If heavy rain hits early, authorities close the gates ahead of schedule for visitor safety.
| Months | Park & Trail Conditions | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Oct 03 – Oct 31 | Kaziranga officially opens for jeep safaris on October 3, 2026. Central (Kohora) and Western (Bagori) ranges open first together following the opening ceremony; other ranges open in gradual phases. Safaris run on partial dry tracks while road repairs finish. Elephant safaris remain closed until November 1. | Opens Oct 3 |
| Nov 01 – Nov 15 | Track repairs finish across all ranges. Almost all safari tracks open fully, and morning elephant safaris begin. | All Tracks Open |
| Nov 15 – Feb 28 | Peak season with dry trails, cool sunny weather, and crisp morning mist. All safari tracks and elephant safaris are fully open. Thousands of migratory birds arrive from Siberia. | Peak Season |
| Mar 01 – Apr 30 | Tall elephant grass burns off, giving clear long-range visibility along safari tracks. Animals gather near shrinking waterholes, and migratory birds leave. Elephant safaris run until April 30. | Best Visibility |
| May 01 – May 31 | Pre-monsoon rains begin and trails turn muddy. Tracks open partially, and safari distance and duration reduce to about half. Elephant safaris are closed for the season. | Partially Open |
| Jun 01 – Sep 30 | Heavy monsoon floods submerge most of the park. Animals move south to the Karbi Anglong hills. Park is completely closed for wildlife safety. | Park Closed |
Trail Conditions, Partial Closures & What to Expect
Jeep safari trails in Kaziranga are natural earth and gravel tracks. They are deliberately kept unpaved to preserve the wildlife habitat.
Bumpy Adventurous Ride
Because annual floods impact the ground, trails can be uneven and bumpy. We recommend wearing comfortable casual clothing, holding onto grab bars when moving, and preparing for an authentic adventure.
Dust & Morning Layers
From December to April, tracks dry out and passing jeeps kick up dust. Carry sunglasses and a light scarf or buff. In December and January mornings (10–14°C), wear a light fleece that you can peel off once the sun rises.
Partial Trail Closures & Duration Rules:
In early October or following heavy rain, certain trail sections might be temporarily closed due to mud. Under official forest rules, if a trail is partially closed, the official safari duration is reduced to 1 hour.
However, we always try to give you more time—a minimum of around 2 hours—even when the accessible trail is shorter, so you have ample time to pause, observe, and photograph wildlife without rushing.
* Please note that when tracks are shortened, animal sightings are usually fewer since jeeps cannot venture deep into the grasslands. However, wildlife is unpredictable—several of our guests have personally had extraordinary sightings right on short tracks. It all comes down to your luck!
Binoculars Are a Must — Provided Free by Nezo
Not every animal stands right next to the vehicle track—many graze 100 to 300 metres away across open marshes and beels. Without binoculars, 80% of sightings won't be nearly as exciting. Watching a rhino mother nudging her calf or inspecting a raptor through a crisp lens makes the whole journey thrilling. That is why we provide complimentary high-definition binoculars on every Nezo Jeep Safari.

Kaziranga Safari Rules & Guidelines
For your safety and to protect Kaziranga's wildlife, all visitors must strictly observe these forest department regulations:
Elephant Safari Kaziranga & Jeep Safari: Complete Wildlife Experience
Most travelers coming to Kaziranga pair both safaris together for the complete wildlife experience. An official Kaziranga Elephant Safari takes place at early dawn (5:30 AM, 6:30 AM, or 7:30 AM) in Bagori or Kohora (starting from ₹1,799/seat), taking you through 10-foot-tall elephant grass where motor vehicles cannot venture, getting you within feet of grazing rhinos. An afternoon Jeep Safari (1:30 PM) then takes you deep across 20 to 25 km of forest tracks for waterholes, birdlife, and wide landscape photography.
As Kaziranga locals, we recommend doing the Elephant Safari on your morning shift and your Jeep Safari on an afternoon shift for maximum sighting diversity.
