Meals at Fairlawns are prepared home-style and served fresh in the shared dining room by the caretaker, Parimal. Guests can pre-order simple, delicious Indian and local Khasi meals. Don't miss sipping hot Lal Cha (local black tea) on the terrace lawn in the evening. Note that all meal services must be ordered in advance as the guesthouse does not operate a commercial restaurant.

To ensure a comfortable and realistic stay, please note these property limitations:
- No Air Conditioning: Due to Shillong's cool climate, rooms do not have ACs.
- Power Backup Limits: A basic inverter backup supports lights and charging sockets during power cuts. It does not run geysers, heaters, or heavy appliances.
- Hot Water Geysers: Geysers are installed in each bathroom, but water pressure is moderate and they require 15 minutes to heat up.
- No TVs in Guest Rooms: Television is only available in the shared communal living area to maintain a quiet atmosphere.
- Service Window: Caretaker and kitchen services wrap up at 9:00 PM daily. No 24/7 front desk is available.
- Narrow Hill Access: The final approach road to Upper Lumparing is steep and narrow. Large tempo travellers or buses cannot reach the gate; transfers to local small taxis are required.
