Cultural life in Dzuleke is deeply intertwined with Angami Naga agrarian cycles, community purification rites, and forest conservation milestones.
Sekrenyi (Phousanyi) Festival
February (25th of the Angami month of Kezei)
The premier purification festival of the Angami Naga. Spanning 10 to 14 days, Sekrenyi is a sacred ritual dedicated to cleansing the body and soul of village members, renewing clan harmony, and seeking divine blessings for agricultural fertility and health. Festivities feature traditional warrior choral chants, ceremonial brass attire, village sports, and lavish community feasting around woodfire hearths.
Hornbill Festival (Regional Satellite Gateway)
December 1 – 10 annually
While the main Hornbill Festival is held at Kisama Heritage Village (35 km east), Dzuleke serves as the premier tranquil eco-haven for travelers seeking an authentic rural Angami retreat away from festival crowds. Visitors can experience cultural performances by day at Kisama and retreat to Dzuleke's woodfire hearths and starlit silence by night.
Community Wildlife Conservation Anniversary
Annually in Autumn
Commemorating the landmark 1999 village resolution banning hunting and commercial logging, this community gathering brings together village elders, youth forest volunteers, and conservationists from the North East Network to review sanctuary biodiversity and plan annual eco-forestry targets.
