Depart early morning from Guwahati. Cross the Balemu checkpoint into Arunachal Pradesh and drive up the scenic Trans-Arunachal Highway via Kalaktang. Arrive in Shergaon by early afternoon and settle into your traditional wooden homestay. Stroll to Buddha Heritage Park to watch golden sunset light illuminate the colossal Buddha statue and surrounding valley meadows. Enjoy an evening Sherdukpen dinner of Hakhazi, smoked pork with bamboo shoots, and fresh butter tea around the hearth.

Begin with a morning walk through blue pine forests up to historic Zengbu Gompa to spin prayer wheels with village elders.
