Torgya Festival
January (11th Monpa lunar month)
A 3-day monastic festival held in the courtyard of Tawang Monastery. Monks in vibrant silk robes and sacred wooden masks perform ritual Cham dances to banish malevolent spirits and usher in peace and prosperity.
Losar (Monpa New Year)
February / March
A 15-day celebration marking the Monpa New Year. Families hoist fresh prayer flags (Lungta), perform household purification rituals, visit gompas, and share festive community meals.
