Itineraries for Bomdila Bomdila

Depart early morning from Guwahati or Tezpur via NH13. Clear the Bhalukpong ILP gate and pass through the 500m Nechiphu Tunnel. Arrive in Bomdila by early afternoon and check into your hotel. Visit the Crafts Centre and Ethnographic Museum to observe master carpet weavers. Ascend to Gentse Gaden Rabgyel Lling (Upper Gompa) for evening monastic prayers. Drive up to RR Hill for a 360-degree sunset panorama over snow-capped Himalayan peaks. Enjoy dinner with hot Thukpa and Momos in the bazaar. Overnight in Bomdila.

Arrive in Bomdila. Explore the three monastic tiers: Lower Gompa in the market, Middle Gompa, and the grand Upper Gompa (Gentse Gaden Rabgyel Lling). Walk through local terraced apple orchards and visit the District Crafts Centre. Watch the golden hour light up Kangto and Gorichen peaks from RR Hill. Evening stroll through the Tibetan market.

Witness early morning prayers at the Upper Gompa assembly hall. After breakfast, shop for Monpa wool dragon carpets, wood-carved masks, and Thangka paintings. Depart Bomdila on the scenic 1.5-hour downhill drive (42 km) into the temperate Dirang Valley, exploring Dirang Dzong and hot water springs.

Pre-dawn departure (5:00 AM) with a local naturalist guide to Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary via Tenga Valley. Explore Lama Camp and surrounding subtropical montane cloud forests.
